About
Exxy by Dan Daw Creative Projects
A Queer, crippled dance artist on the rise, feeling the pressure to stay at the top of his game. Exxy (Aussie slang for “that’s expensive mate”) is about imposter syndrome and fluctuating self worth. Set against the backdrop of the Australian outback, Exxy takes us back to where Dan Daw began – working class, with very little - to reflect on how far he has come.
Joined by three performers who walk and talk like him, through movement and text, they confront and negotiate the meaning of their own value together. In their company, Dan is comforted by the possibility of finally blending in after a lifetime of standing out.
Audacious, uncertain, and tender, Dan grapples with the tension between his all-consuming self-doubt and living in the world fearlessly.
