About
University of Sussex Drama Finalist Performance Festival
ABOUT
The annual Drama Finalist Performance Festival showcases the creative work of students soon-to-be-completing their single or joint-honours BA Drama courses at Sussex. The work presented in the festival is developed as part of the Independent Research Project: Practical module, a final year course that enables students to develop an advanced-level research project leading to an original performance that is the equivalent of a written dissertation. As well as this, the module provides space and time to put into practice some of the creative and critical skills students have acquired throughout their degree.
This year’s festival features 12 creative works made by forty degree students. There’s an exciting range on offer: from performances about food, the end of the world, mental health and gender; to an installation based on the public’s memories of a local sculpture. The diversity of the festival’s programme speaks not only to the expansive, interdisciplinary character of the Drama course at Sussex, but also to the ambition and creativity of our terrific students and their wide-ranging interests. There are some bold, genre-redefining works on offer here and we very much hope you enjoy it.
