About
Celebrate the end of term and the start of the festive season with a truly romantic concert.
The University of Sussex Symphony Orchestra Winter Concert includes Schubert's lyrical and plangent two movement 'Unfinished Symphony' (which featured in 'Deception' (1946) starring Bette Davis), and one of the most famous concertos of all time, for solo piano and orchestra, Rachmaninov's 'Piano Concerto No. 2' (which was the soundtrack to the classic British film 'Brief Encounter' (1945) starring Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard in the story of a love affair).
Completing the evening is a suite of music by Howard Shore, from the fantasy films 'Lord of the Rings' (2001-3).
