About
A group exhibition resulting from the Full Stack Feminism in Digital Humanities project at the University of Sussex, curated by Laurence Hill.
On display across the ACCA building, Manifestations is a group exhibition featuring work by eight exceptional artists working within or adjacent to the digital arts, exploring themes such as trans revolutions, sex work, the disabled body and queer futures.
The exhibition is an outcome of Full Stack Feminism in Digital Humanities a collaborative UK/Ireland research project which aims to embed intersectional feminist methodologies in digital humanities. It has been curated by Laurence Hill, doctoral researcher at the University of Sussex, and the project’s curator.
Manifestations explores one of the project’s primary research questions around the decentering of traditional voices in digital arts and humanities and features new work by artists in residence Roibí O’Rua and Jamila Prowse alongside work by Lauren Kelly, Yarli Allison, T Braun, Kinnari Saraiya, RA Walden and Whiskey Chow.
By definition, manifestations are the embodiments of abstract ideas, and this exhibition is a thrilling exploration of contemporary intersectional thinking and feminist ideas.
The exhibition runs alongside the Full Stack Feminism conference, which takes place on 21 September.
Please note that this exhibition is not suitable for children aged under 16.
This research/project was funded by UKRI-AHRC and the Irish Research Council under the ‘UK-Ireland Collaboration in the Digital Humanities Research Grants Call’ (grant numbers AH/W001667/1 and IRC/W001667/1).
With thanks to Attenborough Centre for the Contemporary Arts.
